Australia has pledged $11.4 million (AUD 16 million) in multi-year funding to Unicef to sustain health, education, protection and other essential services for Rohingya children and host communities in Bangladesh.

The funding, covering 2026-2028 and effective from April this year, was announced in a press release issued yesterday following a meeting between Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryle at the Secretariat.

The contribution comes as humanitarian needs remain acute and resources increasingly strained.

“Australia remains committed to supporting Rohingya and host communities in Bangladesh as the crisis continues. This contribution will help ensure that children have access to essential services, protection and education,” said Susan Ryle.
