Two workers died after entering a septic tank at an under-construction building in Patuakhali Sadar upazila yesterday, with locals suspecting toxic gas buildup inside the tank.

The incident occurred around 11:00am in Chouddoburia village under Kamalapur union. The deceased were identified as Md Nuh, 26, and Ashraf, 50.

Ashraf first entered the long-sealed septic tank at the building owned by Aftar Sikder. When he did not return, Nuh entered the tank in an attempt to rescue him. He also became trapped inside. Locals later broke open part of the tank and recovered their bodies.
