or foreign national brings foreign investment into the country, they will receive a 1.5 percent consultancy fee or commission as an incentive.”

The cabinet on June 4, 2026 approved the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Incentive Scheme Policy, 2026, aimed at encouraging Bangladeshi citizens, including expatriates, to bring foreign direct investment into the country.

Replying to another question from MP Mobashwer Alam Bhuiyan, Tarique also said the government had taken several measures to simplify the investment process and attract both domestic and foreign investors.

He said import and export registration certificates are now being issued online within a shorter timeframe by the Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports.

To create an investment-friendly environment, the export policy has been updated, while the Import Policy Order 2026-2029 is being revised to facilitate easier market entry for foreign investors.

The prime minister said steps had been taken to remove non-tariff barriers on imports intended for export production.

Import payment procedures are also being simplified, and all importers, regardless of transaction value, will be allowed to import goods through contracts without requiring Letters of Credit (L/C).

The premier also said the government will extend full cooperation to opposition MPs, ensuring that development work in their constituencies receives the same support as that of ruling party lawmakers.

Responding to a supplementary question from Madaripur-3 BNP MP Anisur Rahman, the PM said during a meeting of the parliament’s Business Advisory Committee, Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman had informed him that some opposition MPs had not received allocations promised before Eid-ul-Azha, which were to be disbursed by the Local Government Ministry.

“I immediately instructed the minister and state minister to ensure that if any opposition member had not received the allocation, steps should be taken quickly,” he said.

Answering another question from Dhaka-14 Jamaat MP Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem, the premier explained that reserved seat women MPs do not have legally designated seats.

“Naturally, based on our political and organisational structure, we have allocated certain positions for them. They have the same rights as any representative in their constituencies. If there is any development matter in your [MPs from opposition] area where I can assist, let me know -- I will try to help directly,” he said.
