More than two months have passed since President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire with Iran, claiming a deal was close.

On April 7, he posted that negotiations were “very far along” and would be finalized within two weeks, calling it an “Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution.”

Yet no agreement has emerged.

Since then, Trump has repeatedly insisted a breakthrough was imminent. Counting both before and after the ceasefire, he has made at least 37 such claims in posts, interviews, and public appearances, often portraying Iran as desperate to reach an agreement.

Despite these assurances, there is no evidence talks have advanced.

The pattern began March 23, when Trump told reporters peace talks had achieved “almost all points of agreement.” Iran denied negotiations were underway.

Days later, Trump claimed Iran was “begging to make a deal” and predicted an agreement within a week.

His optimism grew in early April. On April 6, he said they had been “very close to a deal” before a setback.

The next day, he announced the ceasefire, meant to last two weeks while an agreement was finalized.

By late April and into May, Trump continued to predict a quick resolution, promising “total victory” and insisting Iran was “dying to make a deal.”

Two months later, however, his repeated promises remain unfulfilled, leaving claims of imminent peace increasingly difficult to take seriously.
