The “Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) Summit 2026” will begin tomorrow at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, aiming to strengthen transparency and accountability in Bangladesh’s corporate and financial sectors.

Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, minister for finance and planning, is expected to attend the summit as chief guest, while Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, adviser on finance and planning to the prime minister, will join as special guest, according to a press release.

The summit is being jointly organised by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), under the theme: “Trustworthy Financial Reporting: What Really Matters”.

The FRC is the national regulatory body responsible for improving the quality of financial reporting, auditing practices, and valuation standards in Bangladesh.

Organisers say the summit has been convened in response to the growing need for financial sector reforms, stability in the banking system, and alignment of local corporate practices with global accounting standards.

The event aims to foster closer coordination among corporations, auditors, and regulatory bodies to build a credible financial ecosystem where financial statements accurately reflect the true condition of businesses.

Leaders from key trade bodies, including Mahmud Hasan Khan, president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, and Md Abul Kalam, vice-president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, will also speak at the event.

The summit will feature multiple sessions with participation from chief financial officers, auditors, and policymakers from leading organisations.

Organisers said the event will emphasise that high-quality financial reporting is essential for global competitiveness and easier access to capital.
