Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Ltd has posted a record first-quarter performance for 2026, supported by strong Eid demand, sustained consumer confidence and strategic business execution despite ongoing economic challenges.

The country’s leading multinational footwear company reported sales of Tk 379.7 crore during the January-March quarter, driven by festive shopping demand, a wider range of products and strong customer demand nationwide.

Bata’s extensive retail network, expanding alternative sales channels and popular seasonal collections also contributed to the strong performance during the quarter, according to a press release.

Despite persistent pressure from inflation, logistics, brand promotion and other operating costs, the company maintained growth momentum through efficient production planning, disciplined business management and strategic sourcing initiatives.

According to its unaudited financial statements, Bata posted an operating profit of Tk 58.5 crore and a profit after tax of Tk 37.1 crore in the first quarter of 2026.

The company said the timing of Eid, one of the country’s peak consumption seasons, during the first quarter helped boost customer demand early in the year. To capitalise on the strong demand, Bata maximised its in-house production capacity and strengthened sourcing efficiency across its operations.

The company also maintained a competitive mid-range pricing strategy while continuing to provide affordable footwear options for consumers across the country.

Bata Bangladesh was recognised as the highest taxpayer in the leather and footwear category for the seventh consecutive year, reflecting its contribution to the national economy and commitment to responsible business practices.

Looking ahead, the company said it would continue focusing on innovation, customer experience and contemporary footwear collections while maintaining its long-standing reputation for quality and trust.
