were reported missing and presumed dead after a farmhouse was reduced to rubble.

Milon identified the two Bangladeshis as Shuvo Kumar Das of Satkhira and Karim Sheikh of Narsingdi.

Anowar Hossain, first secretary at the Bangladesh Embassy, said the two men had been staying at the farmhouse where they worked. “We have not been able to visit the site yet because we are still awaiting permission from the local administration, but we suspect they have been killed and that their bodies remain trapped under the rubble.”

“We’ve repeatedly advised our people not to stay in southern Lebanon and relocate to safer areas in the north because of the war. In fact, many of them had already moved out of the area,” he added.

Milon said some, however, may have returned under the impression of a ceasefire or at employers’ urges.

Leaders of the community estimate 400–500 Bangladeshis may still be living in Nabatieh, though many are expected to move north after Monday’s strikes.

Earlier, on April 8, another Bangladeshi national, Dipali Begum of Faridpur, was killed in an Israeli air strike in Beirut.

According to Reuters, Lebanon’s health ministry reported 74 deaths in Israeli strikes in the three days leading up to May 11, despite a truce announced last month between Israel and Hezbollah.

At least 2,869 people, including medics, women, and children, have been killed since March 2, the ministry said.

The International Rescue Committee says more than one million people across Lebanon, including over 300,000 children, have been displaced, with the humanitarian situation worsening daily.

Bangladeshi community leaders estimate that around 3,000 of the country’s 100,000 migrants in Lebanon have been displaced, and many have lost jobs.

Anowar said the embassy has been providing food assistance to Bangladeshis in need and maintaining regular communication through Facebook and WhatsApp groups.

He also said that at the embassy’s request, the Lebanese authorities had waived fines for undocumented Bangladeshis seeking to return home.

“So far, around 300 people have registered to return to Bangladesh. Hopefully, they will begin flying home within the next two weeks,” he said.
