The government is taking initiatives to revise the curriculum, syllabus and academic calendar to modernise the education system and improve the quality of education, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said yesterday.

Milon made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the “China-Bangladesh Education Cooperation Forum 2026” at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka. The programme was organised by the Embassy of China in Bangladesh and the China-Bangladesh Education and Cultural Exchange Association.

Milon said improving the quality of teachers was essential for improving the quality of education.

He said the government had taken an initiative with China to train teachers in general and technical streams.

“We want to further strengthen the bridge of relations between Bangladesh and China. Education will be the main component of that bridge,” Milon said.

Several memorandums of understanding were signed between Bangladeshi and Chinese institutions at the forum to strengthen cooperation in education.

After the programme, the guests inaugurated an education and technology exhibition and visited different stalls.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen chaired the event.
