He informed that the government has already paid US $83.6 million to Unicef to supply around 95 million doses of 10 types of vaccines.

On May 3, more than 1.5 million doses of IPV vaccine arrived in the first shipment. Yesterday, another 1.5 million doses of MR vaccine and 0.9 million doses of TD vaccine arrived, he added.

The minister further said by May 10, around 180 million doses of MR, TD, BCG, TCV, oral polio vaccine (OPV), and pentavalent vaccines are expected to arrive. The full supply is planned to be completed by September.

He mentioned that more than 1.68 crore children have been vaccinated as of May 5, covering 93 percent of the total target, in the nationwide “Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026” currently underway to control the ongoing measles outbreak.

The minister stressed that there is an adequate stock of TCV and HPV vaccines in the country, adding that the new supplies will ensure that no vaccine shortage occurs in the next eight to 12 months.
