Water flowing from the Muradpur-Lalkhan Bazar flyover, also known as the Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Flyover -- named after a former lawmaker -- in Chattogram is adding to commuters’ woes, as rainwater pours directly onto the roads below during showers, soaking pedestrians and disrupting traffic.

Due to malfunctioning drainage systems, rainwater along the Muradpur–Lalkhan Bazar stretch is spilling from multiple points instead of flowing through designated pipes, often catching pedestrians and motorcyclists off guard.

“I was riding my bike when water suddenly fell on me from above. Within seconds, I was completely soaked,” said Mohammed Momin, a petrol pump manager in the Nasirabad area. The incident occurred near Gate No 2’s Biplab Udyan.

He also said the unexpected drenching forced him to return home to change clothes.
