Most exit polls give BJP edge in West Bengal TMC trashes surveys, says verdict will be out on May 4; 92.01% turnout in final phase

The second and final phase of voting in the West Bengal state election concluded yesterday, with most of the exit polls predicting an upset win for the BJP.

Polling was held in 142 assembly seats across five districts in the south, known as strongholds of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Preliminary figures from the Election Commission put the turnout at 92.01 percent. In the first phase on April 23, the turnout was 93.19 percent. Both figures are record highs for the state.
