yesterday strongly condemned remarks made by Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, rejecting the claim that BNP came to power through “engineering”.

“I saw a news report today [yesterday] that deeply hurt me. The Jamaat-e-Islami ameer said the BNP came to power through engineering,” said Fakhrul.

“I strongly condemn this. It once again proves that he and his party do not think in a healthy way,” he said at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan office yesterday afternoon.

“That is why the whole nation has rejected them very consciously, and in the future, we must work in such a way that they can be completely eliminated politically,” the BNP leader added.

Fakhrul said the BNP assumed office through a “neutral” election held under an interim government, in which the party secured 213 seats. He claimed that international observers and media outlets had recognised the polls as free and fair.
