“So, we again reject the statement of the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer. We not only reject it but also condemn it and express our anger,” he said.

He further alleged that a group was trying to create confusion and division by spreading misinformation about the party’s activities.

Referring to the period after August 5, 2024, Fakhrul said efforts to institutionalise democracy were being undermined. He also alleged that attempts had been made to destabilise the political environment, including through misinformation and propaganda on social media ahead of the election.

“Such efforts to distance the BNP from the people have failed,” he said, adding that recent attempts -- including the use of cartoons to provoke reactions -- were part of a broader effort to create instability.

He also criticised attempts to create unrest in student politics, saying such efforts should be resisted.

Fakhrul expressed hope that those involved in these activities would refrain from them, adding that the country’s conscious and independent-minded citizens had always rejected such politics and would continue to do so.
