Earlier, Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi thanked Bangladesh for adopting a condolence motion on the opening day of the 13th Parliament session following the assassination of the late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He further thanked the government for deputing Secretary (Bilateral) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nazrul Islam, to sign the condolence book at the Embassy of Iran on its behalf.

Banglar Joyjatra, which was anchored in Sharjah Port of the UAE, was denied passage through the Strait of Hormuz after it attempted it on Friday night following Iran’s announcement of reopening the strategic shipping route.

As Banglar Joyjatra reached the strait, the Iranian Navy via radio ordered all vessels to turn back and wait for permission. The ship then returned to a safe anchorage in the Persian Gulf.
