Jagpa Chairman Tasmia Pradhan, as well as Mahbuba Hakim of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis’s women’s wing, are also on the list.

Mahbuba Hakim is reportedly a niece of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Mamunul Haque.

Rokeya Begum, the mother of July martyr Jabir Ibrahim, has also been nominated.

Nomination papers are scheduled to be submitted tomorrow to the Election Commission office in Agargaon. Voting is set for May 12, according to the EC schedule.

The 50 reserved seats for women in parliament are allocated to parties in proportion to their representation in general seats, with one reserved seat for every six general seats. The BNP-led alliance is expected to get 36 seats, the Jamaat-led alliance 13, and independents one seat.

Speaking at the press conference, Hamidur Rahman Azad said candidates were selected based on academic qualifications, integrity, and political experience.

On nominating a member of a July martyr’s family, he said the move was intended to honour the sacrifices that made the current political environment possible.
