Masder Hossain began his judicial career in 1983 and is widely known as the petitioner in the landmark “Masdar Hossain case” in 1999, seeking judicial independence, which led to the separation of the judiciary from the executive branch in 2007 following the verdict.

After retirement, he practised as an HC lawyer and recently served on the Judiciary Reform Commission during the interim government’s tenure.
