He served as an adjunct faculty member at the Law Department of Dhaka University from 1969 to 1973. He also served as the principal of City Law College, Dhaka, from 1973 to 2005. Concurrently, he was a member of the Dhaka University Senate. He was enrolled as an advocate at the High Court in 1967 and was elevated to the status of senior advocate in the Appellate Division in 1989.

He was elected president of the Supreme Court Bar Association on two occasions: 1999-2000 and 2008-2009. Furthermore, he served as the vice president of the Bangladesh Bar Council.
