Meanwhile, Tonu’s father, Yar Ahmed, appeared before the court and demanded justice for his daughter from the prime minister.

According to court sources, 79 hearing dates have passed so far, while six investigation officers from four different agencies have handled the case.

Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a history student at Cumilla Victoria Government College and a theatre activist, was raped and murdered inside Cumilla Cantonment on March 20, 2016.
