Once crowded with makeshift hawkers’ stalls, Shaheed Abrar Fahad Avenue -- formerly Bangabandhu Avenue -- in the capital’s Gulistan now appears relatively empty. Law enforcers had warned of an ongoing eviction drive by the DSCC to reclaim encroached footpaths and roads, prompting hawkers to voluntarily close their shops and leave the area.
