Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan told the parliament yesterday that nearly one lakh people, who were not freedom fighters, were included in the official list of freedom fighters during Awami League’s tenure.

He said the government would remove those names and add the names of genuine freedom fighters.

Responding to a question from BNP MP Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui, the minister said the government is committed to ensuring proper recognition for genuine freedom fighters and excluding non-freedom fighters from all benefits.
