He was taken to DMCH, where doctors declared him dead in the morning.

According to police, Samrat was allegedly involved in at least seven killings between 2025 and 2026 in Savar. Investigators found that he used an abandoned community centre in the Savar municipality area as a “death trap”.

CCTV footage showing him carrying victims’ bodies on his shoulders later emerged as crucial evidence in the investigation, police said.

Law enforcement agencies arrested him in January 2026. Five cases were filed against him with Savar Model Police Station.

Police also said they obtained confessional statements and other evidence, including CCTV footage, in connection with the cases
