He urged the international community to intensify efforts to eliminate racism, promote equality and uphold human dignity worldwide.

Reiterating Bangladesh’s constitutional commitment to equality and human rights, Rahman said the country remains firmly aligned with all major international conventions addressing racism and racial discrimination. He also underscored efforts to promote inclusivity, peaceful coexistence and stronger human rights institutions.

Highlighting persistent injustices, he pointed to the situations in Rakhine state of Myanmar and Gaza of Palestine, noting that the global community is still far from achieving the goals of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.

He also drew attention to the plight of migrant workers, who continue to face exclusion, exploitation and limited access to justice, challenges that undermine the UN’s core principles.

“Global unity is essential to fight against all kinds of racial discrimination, including those faced by migrant workers,” he said.

Rahman further called for greater investment in education, decisive action against hate speech and enhanced intercultural dialogue to build a world free from racism.
