A 14-year-old boy was shot dead, and at least five others were injured during a clash over establishing dominance in the char area of Saydabad under Raipura upazila in Narsingdi early yesterday.

The clash erupted around 5:00am between two rival groups led by Hanif Master and Ershad Ullah, according to police and local sources.

The deceased was identified as Mostakim, 14, son of Masud Mia of Saydabad village. He sustained critical bullet injuries and was rushed to Raipura Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Police could not immediately confirm which group Mostakim belonged to. Among the injured, Rafiqul Islam, 34, was identified, while the identities of four others were yet to be confirmed.

Sujan Chandra Sarkar, additional superintendent of police (crime) in Narsingdi, said members of the police, the army, and the Rab rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
