Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury yesterday said there is “no doubt” over the 13th national election being held, insisting it cannot be destabilised by ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s messages from abroad.

He further claimed that the fascists have no supporters left in the country.

Jahangir made the remarks while briefing reporters after the graduation parade of the 63rd batch of female prison guards at the Prison Training Centre in Gazipur’s Kashimpur prison campus.

The home adviser said any audio message from Hasina, now staying in India, would have no impact on the election.

He claimed that those who supported them before no longer stand with them, and that many supporters have left the country and taken refuge abroad.

Earlier in the day, addressing the ceremony as the chief guest, Jahangir said ensuring prisoners’ security must go hand in hand with safeguarding their rights.

He stressed the need for a transparent, accountable, and non-discriminatory prison administration.

After inspecting the parade, the adviser distributed awards among the best-performing female prison guards. Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen Syed Md Motahar Hossain and other officials were present at the briefing.
