Three people were killed and three others injured in road accidents in two districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.

In Patuakhali, two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a cement-laden three-wheeler, locally known as a tomtom, on the Lebukhali–Bauphal regional highway at Rajakhali in Dumki upazila. Police said six-year-old Rabiul died on the spot, while Ibrahim Khan, 60, succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

The injured -- Sumon Sardar, 25, and Abdul Kader, 50 -- were later referred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal.

All the victims are residents of different villages in Bauphal upazila, locals said.

Dumki Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Selim Uddin said, “The damaged auto-rickshaw and the tomtom have been recovered and taken to the police station. Legal action will be taken if the victims’ families file complaints.”

In Kurigram, a youth, Faruk Ahmed, 30, was killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle at Andharirjhar in Bhurungamari upazila.

The deceased was from Dakkhin Pathardubi village in Bhurungamari. The injured -- Jahangir Alam Apu, a resident of Kamrangirchar in Dhaka -- was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said Bhurungamari Police Station OC Azim Uddin.
