Bangladesh Mahila Parishad in a statement called such behaviour a violation of fundamental rights.

It said creating a conflicting situation to avoid justice for the abuse of a teenager is disgraceful and unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad demanded an end to the violence in Khagrachhari, calling on the government to arrest the criminals, provide compensation to affected people, and ensure proper treatment for the injured.

Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi demanded compensation and rehabilitation for the victim families affected by the attacks, along with proper medical care. Its leaders described the incident as barbaric, inhuman, and a severe violation of human rights, calling for the immediate arrest of those involved and exemplary punishment.

In another statement, 84 women’s rights activists under the banner of “Naribadi” demanded an immediate trial and punishment for those involved in the rape incident.

They said seven indigenous women in Khagrachhari have been victims of rape in the past year. Each time, they said, victims and protesters demanding justice faced attacks, delays in case proceedings, and state non-cooperation.

The statement was signed by Dhaka University teacher Dr Moshahida Sultana, anthropologist Sayema Khatun, and journalist Saydia Gulrukh, among others.

Meanwhile, the Left Democratic Alliance said failure to arrest and bring the criminals to trial quickly would seriously damage public trust in the country’s judicial system.

Ganosamhati Andolon called for an investigation into “the role of the army and police” in the incident and urged appropriate action.

Gonotantrik Adhikar Committee leaders said the interim government is not showing sensitivity or responsibility in restoring a democratic environment in the hills, while Tripura Students Forum, Bangladesh demanded proper treatment for the injured indigenous people.
