A passenger died after falling from a moving train in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur yesterday.

The deceased is Rahim Uddin Molla, 55, of Phulchhari upazila in Gaibandha.

The incident happened in the outer area of Melandah Railway Station around 11:30am, said Robiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station.

The OC said Rahim was travelling to Jamalpur on a commuter train from Dhaka. He fell asleep while sitting near the train door, accidentally fell off, and died on the spot.

His cousin Abdul Mannan identified the body.

The OC also said police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
