On his manifesto, he said he wants to focus on a structural master plan rather than addressing problems individually. The plan would cover classroom and lab shortages, internal transportation, and student nutrition and also include an academic master plan to improve education and research.

Sharan noted that cultural organisations and progressive student groups had long campaigned for the Jucsu election through protest songs and programmes. “Although these efforts did not succeed earlier, the environment shifted after August 5, and now the election is finally being held after 33 years,” he said.

He pointed out that exams are currently ongoing in nearly 24 departments, creating discouragement among some teachers and students.

He said adding that the Jucsu election to the academic calendar would help avoid such clashes and allow the polls to be held in a more organised and celebratory manner.

Sharan also expressed dissatisfaction with the election environment, saying the strict code of conduct has limited campaigning.

He criticised the administration for not acting against violators and for failing to clarify penalties, calling it a sign of weak transparency and neutrality by the Election Commission and university authorities.
