Protesters under the banner of “July Warriors” continued their demonstration for a second consecutive day in the capital’s Shahbagh intersection yesterday, demanding immediate finalisation of the proposed July Charter.

Despite intermittent rain, around 100 protesters continued the blockade at the intersection since morning, disrupting vehicular movement in one of Dhaka’s busiest areas. They also unveiled their own July Charter proposal yesterday.

A section of the demonstrators stayed overnight, while others joined them in the morning, said Khalid Monsur, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station.

No buses or other vehicles were allowed to pass, and traffic was diverted to alternative routes, he added.
