Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maroof went to Islamabad on a sudden leave on May 11.

The same day, the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the envoy’s travel to Islamabad.

A foreign ministry official said the tenure of Pakistan envoy’s absence in Dhaka was not included in the notification.

“However, informally the high commission said the diplomat would be absent here for two weeks,” he told this correspondent.

Contacted, the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka said Syed Ahmed Maroof is in Pakistan for official purpose. “When his engagements in Pakistan would be over, he will be back,” an official of the high commission told this correspondent when asked about the tenure of his absence.
