to freeze 31 bank accounts of Hasina, Rehana, Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, and their affiliated organisations on charges of corruption.

They deposited Tk 394,60,72,805 to those bank accounts, said the charges.

On March 11, the same court ordered the ACC to freeze 124 other bank accounts of Hasina, Rehana, five of their family members, and their organisations.

The five others are Sajeeb Wazed, Saima Wazed, Rehana’s husband Shafiq Ahmed Siddiq, their family members Bushra Siddiq and Shaheen Siddiq.

On December 17, 2024, the ACC launched a probe into allegations of embezzlement of Tk 80,000 crore against Hasina and her family members.

According to the charges, the embezzlement took place in nine projects, including the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

The ACC on December 22, 2024 launched another investigation into Hasina and Joy over allegations of laundering $300 million to the US.

GRAFT CASE HEARING TODAY

The Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court will decide today whether the charges of a graft case against Hasina and seven other members of her family will be accepted.

The family members include Joy, Putul and Rehana, her daughters British lawmaker Tulip Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq Ruponti, and son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby.

The case was filed over abuse of power and irregularities through which plots were allocated in the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project.

On March 25 this year, the ACC pressed charges in six separate corruption cases involving the allocation of six 60-katha plots.

The court is scheduled for acceptance of the charge sheets in three cases on April 13 and two cases on April 15.
