PBI quizzes five, including Justice Manik

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has interrogated five people, including a retired judge of the Supreme Court who is now in jail, in the case filed over the murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

The five people are sacked army official Ziaul Ahsan, former Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Mashiur Rahman, former justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, former Navy officer Mohammad Sohail, and Humayun Kabir, an accused of the double murder case.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam yesterday allowed the PBI, which took charge of the investigation in November last year, to interrogate the accused Palash Rudra Paul, who was a security guard at the house where the couple was murdered.

In another development, the investigators have spoken to more than 50 people regarding the case where there was no need to get permission from Sagar
