Fifteen eminent citizens have called for the immediate submission of the charge sheet and the swift commencement of the trial ahead of the 12th anniversary of the murder of Tanvir Muhammad Taqi.

In a statement issued yesterday, Halim Azad, member secretary of the “Santrash Nirmul Taqi Mancha” -- a platform campaigning against terrorism in Narayanganj -- said justice for Taqi has been long delayed.

The statement said Taqi was murdered in Narayanganj on March 6, 2013. Twelve years on, the charge sheet is yet to be submitted, leaving the trial stalled.

“Over the years, we have repeatedly called for justice through statements, press conferences, rallies, and newspaper articles. Yet, under the previous government, the trial was deliberately delayed for eleven and a half years,” it read.

The signatories acknowledged that the case gained momentum following the political change on August 5, with several accused individuals
