Edward Berger’s Vatican thriller Conclave took home the Best Film award at this year’s BAFTA Awards, leading with 11 nominations. The film secured four wins, tying with Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist , which also claimed four awards, including Best Director for Corbet and Leading Actor for Adrien Brody.

In a surprising turn, Mikey Madison won Leading Actress for Anora , surpassing Demi Moore, who was widely considered the frontrunner for her role in The Substance . The latter film managed only one win for Makeup and Hairstyling.

Among other notable winners, Zoe Saldaña earned Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Pérez , while Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain . Jesse Eisenberg secured a BAFTA for Original Screenplay for the same film. Dune: Part Two was recognised for Sound and Special Visual Effects.

Several films, including Emilia Pérez , Wicked , A Real Pain , Dune: Part Two , and Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl , each won two awards. However, James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown failed to secure a win despite six nominations.

With Conclave and The Brutalist emerging as major winners, the BAFTAs once again reinforce their role as a key indicator for the Oscars.
