Last year’s fires caused property losses estimated at Tk 446 crore, but fire service efforts saved assets worth Tk 1,974 crore.

The FSCD also conducted 18,983 drills, 15,683 awareness campaigns, and 7,769 training sessions, reaching 147,717 participants. Special focus was given to the garment sector, with 3,921 sessions held for 156,840 workers.

In enforcing fire safety regulations, 147 mobile courts imposed fines totalling Tk 2.58 crore on 149 establishments, with legal action taken against three organisations.

Rescue operations by the FSCD saved 10,826 injured individuals and recovered 2,437 deceased.

Road accidents contributed to 6,408 incidents, resulting in 9,319 injuries and 1,484 fatalities.

While the number of fire incidents decreased from 27,624 in 2023, casualties rose, with 140 fatalities in 2024 compared to 102 the previous year.
