Thirty-six decorated freedom fighters have condemned and protested the attempt to repeal the 1972 constitution, saying that the issues achieved and resolved through the Liberation War cannot be questioned or changed.

In a joint media statement issued yesterday, they also condemned and protested the incidents of assaulting and humiliating the freedom fighters, vandalising their homes and offices of the Muktijoddha Sangsad across the country since August 5.

The gallantry award recipient freedom fighters said amending or updating the constitution to meet the aspirations of the people as per the need of the time is an ongoing process, but repealing the 1972 constitution achieved through the great Liberation War means denying the Liberation War and betraying the three million martyrs.
