Justice Syed Md Ziaul Karim, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, yesterday called upon all officials of the judiciary to unite in order to establish justice and ensure fairness.

“No one has sole authority in the judiciary and it cannot be sustained by a single effort. A concerted and collective effort is the only prerequisite for establishing justice. Therefore, everyone involved in the judiciary, including the judges, must work closely with each other,” he said.

Justice Ziaul Karim made the remarks while receiving a farewell from the Attorney General’s Office and the Supreme Court Bar Association at Court-1 of the Appellate Division. He retired from the office yesterday.

“We often hear that ‘the dark cloud of corruption in the judiciary is hovering over us’ nowadays. Today, at the time of farewell, my sincere request to you is that we should not do anything that will stain the white building [of the Supreme Court], the symbol of justice, even a little bit,” he added.

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman and SCBA President AM Mahbub Uddin, were, among others, present.
