The meeting got heated after Nur hurled abusive language towards some elderly members of the party, Faruk added.

“In another meeting of the party held the next day, Nur again confessed about the meeting in the beginning of his speech,” Faruk further claimed.

Faruk alleged the recent activities of Nur are contradictory to the charter and principles of the party.

He also claimed that the removal of Reza Kibria from the post of party convener is completely illegal and the decision to hold the party’s council excluding Kibria is pushing the party towards a split.

Meanwhile, in response to the allegation, Nur during an event of the Jatiyatabadi Nabin Dal at the press club, said, “Many people who want to be highlighted in mass media and social media, make such comments. Because they know if they say something against Nur, the media will immediately grab it.”

He also claimed that Kibria was removed following the charter.

The split in Gono Odhikar Parishad came to light as Kibria and Nur have removed each other from the leadership positions.

At a meeting on June 18, Nur and the other leaders of the party removed Kibria from the post of convener and replaced him with Rashed Khan, who was the joint convener.

A day later, Reza issued a statement announcing that Nur and Rashed had been temporarily suspended from the party.

On June 25, a faction of the party loyalist to Nur sent a letter to Kibria proposing a no-confidence motion against him.

The party issued a press release last Saturday, claiming that Reza Kibria was removed from the post of convener.
