Interprefy, a Zurich-based provider of translation services, has claimed to have launched the world’s first AI speech-to-speech translation system. Called Aivia, this AI provides affordable real-time translation with flexibility and support to ensure a seamless multilingual user experience, as per the media company The Next Web.

In a The Next Web exclusive, Oddmund Braaten, Interprefy’s CEO, said that he believes Aivia is the most accurate and flexible AI speech translator available in the market today. The service translates speech into audio and captions at the touch of a button, using three main AI technologies: automatic speech recognition, machine translation, and synthetic voice generation. Aivia is designed to address two shortcomings in real-time speech translation: inconsistent results and the needs of event organisers.

According to The Next Web report, initially available in 24 languages and regional accents, both in-person audiences and platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and ON24 can use the service. Interprefy plans to add more languages in the near future.
