At least three people were killed in road accidents yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.

In the capital, a man died after a pickup van hit his motorcycle in Jatrabari area yesterday morning.

The deceased -- Sharif Khan (38) -- was an employee of a fruit wholesale shop in Sadarghat area.

He was on his way to workplace from his Sarulia house in Demra when the chicken-laden van hit his motorbike in Saddam Market area around 9:30am, said his friend Awlad Hossain.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 11:00am, said Jatrabari Police Station Sub-inspector Ashraful Alam.

Police were trying to identify the pickup. Its driver who managed to flee, he said.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

In Rajbari, a man was killed and two others were injured when a truck hit a three-wheeler in Kalibari Mor area under Sadar upazila.

The deceased is Md Manju Mia (40), a fish trader.
