At least 70 BNP-Jamaat activists were sued by an Awami League leader on Wednesday night, following a clash over an alleged attack on local lawmaker‘s house in Thakurgaon on September 3.

Partha Sarothi Sen, president of Ruhea Thana unit AL, filed the case with Ruhea Police Station accusing the activists -- including district BNP joint secretary Ansarul Haque.

Meanwhile, the BNP leader filed a case against 108 AL activists with a Thakurgaon court yesterday, said Toimur Rahman, president of the district BNP.

Following the AL case, police held two -- Nawshad Ali (42) and Ismail Hossain (52) -- from early yesterday.

According to the BNP case, the party organised a rally in Ruhea Bazar on September 3.

Locals said an AL meeting coincided at the same place where the clash took place at that time.

Local BNP leaders alleged that AL activists attacked them there.

However, the AL case said before holding the rally, the BNP-Jamaat men attacked MP Ramesh Chandra Sen and his nephew Partha Sarothi Sen.
