Contacted, DIG Anwar said, “People were suffering there for traffic jam. It was a time when school and office goers were on the road.

“No policeman, neither the OC nor someone else, was there to ease the traffic jam. Some local transport workers made way for my car, but who would do that for other vehicles?” he asked.

“It is an important highway. As the situation came to my notice, the OC was ordered to be relieved of his duties immediately.”

A departmental enquiry will be conducted against him. Higher authorities, such as SPs and additional SPs, cannot escape responsibilities either, the DIG said.
