About the transmission situation of novel coronavirus, he said the transmission has been in a downward trend for the past 30 days.

“The case detection rate has been below 10 percent for the past four days in a row,” Nazmul said, adding, “If we can maintain this, we could be in comfort to a great extent.”

He also said, “If the transmission declines further, going back to normalcy would be easier.”

The DGHS in a press release, meanwhile, reported 52 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours ending at 8:00am yesterday.

Besides, the case detection has also dropped as the DGHS reported 2,497 new cases across the country. The previous day, 2,639 people tested positive.

Against 27,528 tests yesterday, the positivity rate was 9.07 percent.

With the latest count, the total number of deaths from the deadly virus reached 26,736, which is 1.76 percent of all confirmed cases so far.

On March 8 last year, the DGHS reported the first three Covid-19 cases in the country. Since then, 15,22,302 people tested positive for the virus.

Of yesterday’s deceased, 20 were men and 32 women.
