The highest 7,626 new cases were recorded on April 7, while the highest 112 deaths were reported on April 19.

The daily positivity rate kept on declining since April 16, thanks to the “movement restrictions” imposed on April 5.

In the previous two months, the daily positivity rate remained below five percent.

Yesterday, the positivity rate was 8.71 percent against 21,984 tests, according to a DGHS press release.

A total of 1,914 new infections were recorded in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, taking the total number of infected people to 765,596.

Sixty-one more people died from Covid-19 during the same 24-hour period. With this, the total number of deaths reached 11,705. The death rate now stands at 1.53 percent.

As many as 3,870 coronavirus patients recovered during the 24-hour period. The total number of recoveries reached 695,032 and the recovery rate is 90.78 percent.

Among the 61 deceased, 36 were men and 25 women. One of them was aged between 11 and 20, three were between 31 and 40, two between 41 and 50, 11 between 51 and 60 and 44 were aged above 60.
