This time, the number of daily new cases and deaths broke all previous records.

The highest 7,626 new cases were recorded on April 7 while the highest 112 deaths were reported on April 19.

The daily positivity rate kept on declining since April 16, thanks to the movement restrictions imposed on April 5.

Yesterday, the positivity rate was 8.71 percent against 21,984 tests, according to a DGHS press release issued.

A total of 1,914 new infections were recorded in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, taking the total number of infected people to 765,596, added the release.

Sixty-one people died from Covid-19 during the same 24-hour period.

With this, the total number of deaths reached 11,705 and the death rate now stands at 1.53 percent.

A total of 3,870 Covid-19 patients recovered during the 24-hour period. With this, the total number of recoveries reached 695,032 and the recovery rate is 90.78 percent.

Among the 61 deceased, 36 were males and 25 females.
