investigate irregularities in toll collection.

The other member of the committee is Jatiya Party MP Abu Hossain Babla of Dhaka-7.

The committee was asked to hand its report to the standing committee in three months.

Enamul told The Daily Star that the standing committee had earlier asked the transport ministry to submit a report to it about the allegations.

“The ministry submitted its report. But the standing committee didn’t accept it, due to loopholes in the investigation,” added Enamul.

That’s why the parliamentary committee yesterday formed a sub-committee to thoroughly investigate the matter, he said.

Another two-member sub-committee was formed to look into the allegations that the road transport and bridges department awarded multiple tenders to the same company.

Shaikh Salahuddin of Khulna-2 is the convener and Salim Uddin Tarafdar of Naogaon-3 is the member of this sub-committee which was asked to hand in its report in next two months.

The third sub-committee headed by Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq of KIshoreganj-4 was asked to investigate alleged irregularities in giving lease and management of different resorts, parks, tourist attractions, lands and other properties near the Bangabandhu Bridge.

Abu Zahir of Habiganj-3 is the member of this sub-committee which was asked to submit its report in two months.
