TK 118 CR. FOREIGN EXCHANGE EARNINGS IN 7 MONTHS

The foreign exchange earning of Bangladesh during the first seven and a half months after liberation has been estimated at Tk 118 crore from exports. The highest earning came from jute and jute goods. The total foreign exchange earnings from jute and jute goods till July last beginning from December 16, 1971 was 110.54 crore.

$100MN IDA LOAN SOON

The World Bank is likely to soon finalise IDA loan to Bangladesh totaling 100 million dollars for 11 major projects in the country. The proposed loan will be the first major commitment of the World Bank to this republic.

20 PERCENT ABANDONED HOUSES SECURED

The government has secured possession of only 15 to 20 percent of over 5,000 abandoned houses in Dhaka city. The sources say that the possession of houses could not be secured by the government due to the adoption of lengthy and cumbersome process by the district authority.
