Renowned vocalist Pankaj Basu has been entertaining audience with his signature Khayal for years. The artiste has recently been recognised as a Pandit by Damru Musical Foundation in India, for his outstanding contribution to Indian Classical Music.

"It is one of the greatest achievements of my life, as I never thought that I would be bestowed with the title of Pandit from a musical organisation of another country. My responsibility for music has increased even more," said the artiste.

"When I was 18 years old, I moved to India, and learned Indian Classical music from my Guru Acharya Jayanta Bose," said Pankaj Basu, when asked about his musical journey.

"When I returned to Bangladesh in 2007, I started working on music at Beenkar Musical Society of Bangladesh, which got Govt, approval in 2014. Indian Gurus come to the institute every four months to train the students here."

Pankaj dreams of taking Bangladeshi global stage through his organisation. "We want to move forward with the dreams. Our institution has already become familiar in several states of India," he said, "We have performed in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Faridabad and Kolkata. We have already taken some important schemes to disseminate music internationally. We will disclose them soon through a press conference."

The artiste wants to take Beenkar Musical Society of Bangladesh to new heights so that students can acquire knowledge and training on all the genres of music from the institution. "For materialising this dream into reality, partnerships and sponsors are required," he asserts.
