The youngest brother of ATM Shamsuzzaman, Saleh Zaman Salim has confirmed that the veteran actor is no longer on life support as his health has shown splendid signs of recovery. "My brother is doing extremely well by the grace of the Almighty. We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers from his well-wishers," mentioned Saleh during a conversation with The Daily Star. "ATM Shamsuzzaman is currently at the ICU of Asgar Ali Hospital in the capital where the doctors are monitoring his recovery."

The 78 year old Ekushey Padak winner was hospitalised earlier last month where he underwent surgery. After shifting him to a cabin, the doctors had warned his family to keep him isolated from other individuals entering his cabin, with his wife as an exception. However, the failure to do so was a prime reason behind the deterioration of his health, according to Saleh. He requested everyone for prayers for the complete recovery of ATM Shamsuzzaman.
