The body of Wasim Adnan - a Sylhet Agricultural University student who was pushed off a bus and run over last month -was exhumed for autopsy yesterday, as per a court order.

A Moulvibazar court had issued the order on Tuesday, said Sub-inspector Gius Uddin of Moulvibazar Police Station, investigation officer of the case,

Moulvibazar Additional Superintendent of Police Md Rashedul said after the incident, his family members had initially decided to bury the victim without autopsy.

Moulvibazar Model Police Station OC Sohel Ahmed said Moulvibazar Chief Judicial Magistrate Kazi Bahauddin sent bus driver Jewel Ahmed, 30; and his helper Mashuk Mia, 31; to remand. After remand, they were sent to jail through court.

Wasim, a fourth-year student of the biotechnology and genetic engineering department of the university, was run over by a bus after its helper pushed him off the vehicle at Sherpur in Sadar upazila of Moulvibazar on March 23.

On March 25, SAU authorities filed a case against the bus driver, his helper and supervisor over Wasim's death. The driver and helper were arrested shortly after the incident, and during primary interrogation, both confessed to their involvement.
